Scripture is like a lion. Who ever heard of defending a lion? Just turn it loose and it will defend itself!
You must let your self take in all that the world has to offer before you pick and choose what you want and have hope in God that everything that is meant to be will be and everything that is not will be overcome by the light that was already within you!
I want to share with you something that is so special to me, an artist who is very special to me! Charles Spurgeon is his name and you can read some of his work a little bit more about who he was and what he did: http://www.romans45.org/spurgeon/spwrtngs.htmI
I absolutely love this quote pictured above and I have put a few other words above the picture about lions quoted by Charles Spurgeon as well!
Feel free to read in to as much as possible and don’t forget to be open to as much information and scripture as you can get your hands on!! It is good for the mind soul and body to take time to rest and read!!;) 🙂
Today I am going to be sharing with you all some of my necessities I use for ballet/pointe! Also, you can follow along with some of my tips and tricks. If some of you are not dancers, still feel free to read and see what a day in the life a dancer’s feet is really like!
I wear my pointe shoes about every day for at least 3 hours. I am training at a local ballet school at the moment. I wear Gaynor Mindens. For those who might not know what these are; Gaynor’s are a newer type of pointe shoe that are made entirely out of plastic and foam, rather than the traditional pointe shoe. Typically, most pointe shoes are made out of a paper mache, but Gaynor Mindens kind of changed that idea so that the shoe itself could last longer! I do like them a lot, especially since Gaynor Minden has helped me create the my perfect shoe!! I absolutely love that the shoe itself is quiet and most of all lasts a whole lot longer. And they are so pretty, each time I sew a new pair of pointe shoes I feel like a princess!! I feel like most ballerinas spend there whole career looking for the perfect shoe, almost like princesses in the fairy-tales! The picture above is me wearing my Gaynor Mindens. I really do like how they immediately shape to my foot and I can warm-up/roll through my feet nicely at barre while wearing them! I have also tried Freed’s by Freed of London. I loved the shape of the shoes, but they died after a day of rehearsals and I have not had the time to find another shoe just yet. So, I am sticking with Gaynor’s forever and always!! Let me know what shoes you might wear and what your thoughts are!
I will show you a bit of what I wear on my toes!
I have found that warming my feet up specifically before class always helps and it is a lot healthier for your body, even if it is simple! It’s the little things that lead to great things! I have a set routine that I do everyday before class:
20 rises onto demi-pointe
10 reps of windshield wipers with a thera-band
20 reps of pointing and flexing my feet with a thera-band
25 reps of caterpillars (for the arches)
Achilles tendon stretch on half of foam log
Here is a video for a better look, I have listed everything above in order of the video:
Hello everyone! Today was a pretty great day, but I would like to share with you a little snippet from yesterday, Sunday. So Sunday is always a nice day, and this Sunday was very special to me. I woke up in the morning to go to church with my grandparents and my mother. I always love spending time with my grandparents, because I did not get to see them very much until they moved out here closer to us. Tomorrow, Tuesday, they will be leaving for Florida. Since the weather is getting colder, they like to be in warmer climate, but just until it warms up. Back to what happened on Sunday. We arrived at church and started singing, all of a sudden the lights went out when we sung the word, darkness. This was rather strange, but we soon found out that all the power went out due to a fire close by. Even without lights, we kept singing! This made me think, no matter what, you are still able to see light in darkness! This goes for us in the real world, as well. No matter the chaos the world may bring, your flame will never burn out! I wanted to share a quote my grandma gave me on a little sheet of paper before she left:
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift; that’s why they call it the present.”
No matter where you are in life, you should never look back and never worry about tomorrow! Life is always best when you live in the moment. Life is about moments. Do not let your flame burn out because of what happened in the past or because you are worried about the future! Just burn bright in the moments you are given!
